Transforming Jewellery
I love jewellery that can transform itself. By this I mean that I am intrigued how one piece of jewellery’s identity can change dramatically purely by how it is worn, or even by what other pieces it is worn with. This thought struck me whilst watching a programme on all of the wonderful jewellery Elizabeth Taylor collected throughout her lifetime; the ‘Taylor-Burton Diamond’ in particular was one of the many pieces that really stood out to me. It inevitably became the national stone of tsarist Russia and was collected by the Russian royal family
Fancy pink diamonds
Australia’s largest, natural pink diamond, The Argyle Pink Jubilee, was discovered recently, at Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine in Western Australia, where it is said that 90% of the world’s natural pink diamonds are found. But it wasn’t just this diamond’s beautiful pale pink colour and exceptional size that caught my eye – the extremely rare 12.76 carat stone is estimated to be worth at least £7 million!
